About EDM

Typically 126-132 BPM

On MixGrid, EDM means the big-room, mainstage festival sound rather than the umbrella term for electronic music generally. Tracks are built on a hard four-on-the-floor kick around 128 BPM, with long snare-roll builds, filtered risers, and a drop that lands either on a huge supersaw lead or on a bass-heavy big-room kick pattern. Arrangements are unsubtle by design: instant recognition, big tension, quick payoff. Most releases circulate as extended mixes with long beatmatch-friendly intros and outros. It is the sound of the festival main stage, and in Southeast Asian clubs it shelves naturally beside Melbourne Bounce and Vinahouse, which share the same driving 4/4 kick and sit close in tempo.

DJ tip: Mix on the long extended intros and outros rather than the drops, and use the shared 128 BPM kick to move between EDM, Melbourne Bounce, and Vinahouse without losing the floor.
